Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
Sprinkle the ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger into the butter-sugar mixture and stir well.
Arrange the sliced pears in the bottom of the greased cake pan and pour the spiced butter mixture evenly over them. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
Gradually mix in the milk and vanilla extract to the egg mixture.
Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Pour the cake batter gently over the pears in the pan, making sure to distribute it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate. Carefully lift the pan off to reveal the pears on top.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
